Building with Absolutes

As Church we are moving into an era where fleshly opinion and worldly perceptions are increasingly growing stronger against absolute truths spoken by the Word of God.           Atheism, Agnosticism and Humanistic worldviews are speaking out, slandering and attacking Christian beliefs, the Church and Christian organisations.

The Church in modern “western” society is starting to feel what many Christians world-wide have felt for many generations. Persecution is something the “western” Church has not felt. We must remember that many of our brothers and sisters have given their physical lives for the Gospel during history and all over the world in our modern day.

We, as Patria, have made our decision: we are standing on the Word of God, and we will not back down on absolutes. For this to have the full display we must remember that there is no such thing as a Christian without the Holy Spirit; therefore we must study the Word to know what our battle looks like. Firstly, Jesus said “It is finished”, therefore we are entering this battle as victors and overcomers. Secondly, our battle is not against flesh and blood, and therefore our attitudes towards people will be displayed through these fruits “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self-control “(Gal.5:22 – the fruits of the Holy Spirit). Thirdly we do not war with carnal/fleshly weapons, but rather spiritual truths based on what Jesus completed: “For though we live in this world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every through to make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Cor.10:3-5

It is time for us to become more effective, and therefore we want to invite you to dedicate the month of August to studying the Word for personal revelations through the Spirit. Allow yourself more time in the Word, allow the Lord to speak to you regarding life, choices, love, relationships…allow the Spirit to touch you in a new way by revealing His true meaning of us being Church. We are going to need to know His voice more than ever in the years to come. Let us not allow our own flesh to drag us down, but let us depend on the Holy Spirit to grace us for growth through discipline in building deeper relationship with Him and each other.

Let us make August a month of fellowship and getting to know one another. Let us encourage each other to draw near to Him and to grow spiritually. This month holds many miracles; let us build the testimonies through living out of His victory!
